Every day, your child learns something new; experiencing more of the world and becoming the person they were meant to be. Unfortunately, that means eye issues can grow with them.
Regular eye exams are the best way to monitor your child’s eyes as they grow, ensuring they have the best eyesight possible. Request an appointment for your child today.
Childhood myopia (or nearsightedness) has spiked in recent years. More children than ever are reported to experience myopia, and at younger ages than previously reported. Cases of myopia in children often get worse with age, causing poorer and poorer distance vision. The good news is that we may be able to preserve your child’s distance vision.
We employ methods of myopia control designed to alleviate the eye strain related to myopia progression. This not only allows your child to see more clearly in the short term, it could also prevent their case of myopia getting worse as they age.

Many people think that babies do not need eye exams because they do not read. We use our eyes for much more than just reading. In fact, studies indicate that vision is a large part of learning to walk and talk. Eyesight is a crucial component of your child’s development.
You should bring your child for their first eye exam at six months of age. After their initial exam, we recommend your child’s eyes are examined on an annual basis, unless you are instructed otherwise.
Roughly 90% of learning materials are presented to school children visually. Without the ability to read a book or make sense of what is written on the whiteboard, a child can quickly fall behind their peers. Occasionally this learning deficit can lead to frustration and behavioral issues.
Maintaining good eye health is the best way to set your child up for academic success.
