Future-Proofing Your Optometry Career: Leveraging on Technology & Clinical Knowledge

REGISTRATION OPEN – Register now for this CPD event.  In Person Attendance Only.

Enjoy not one, but four presentations from our speakers detailed below.  The evening is sponsored by InMode, Gelflex & Eyerising.

1. Dry Eye and IPL – Dr Ian Chan (sponsored by InMode)
Summary: This session explores the identification, categorization, and treatment of dry eye conditions, with a focus on IPL therapy for suitable patients.
Learning Objectives:

• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to identify and categorize different types of dry eye.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to determine which patients would benefit from dry eye treatments.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to recognize who is best suited for IPL therapy.

2. Keratoconus and Custom Lens Fitting – Rhiannon Richer (Sponsored by Gelflex)
Summary : This talk covers identifying clinical scenarios for scleral/RGP lenses in keratoconus, explaining them to patients, and understanding basic fitting philosophies, illustrated with case studies (tailored to Gelflex’s products).

Learning Objectives:
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to identify common clinical scenarios seen in general practice where scleral lenses may be an appropriate option, including a clear, practical framework for referral timing and required clinical information.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to confidently explain scleral/RGP lenses to patients using clear, patient-friendly language to discuss benefits, limitations, and realistic expectations of scleral lens wear.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to understand the basics of scleral lens fitting philosophy, including a practical overview of lens design concepts and topography-guided fitting.

3. OrthoK Troubleshooting – Syafiq Kusni
Summary: This session provides an overview of capturing quality topography maps, OrthoK lens anatomy, troubleshooting common issues like decentration or central islands, and optimizing for myopia control.

Learning Objectives:
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to understand the importance of capturing high-quality topography maps and how to do it.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to describe OrthoK lens anatomy, including treatment zone, return zone, and alignment zone.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to troubleshoot common patterns (e.g., decentration, central islands) by adjusting different lens parameters.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to optimize OrthoK for myopia control.

4. RLRL for Myopia Control – Eric Cheng (sponsored by Eyerising)
Summary: This presentation discusses the science and mechanisms of Repeated Low-level Red Light (RLRL) for myopia control, key research findings, safety protocols, and includes case reports on RLRL usage. Plus hyperopic OrthoK for presbyopia correction.

Learning Objectives:
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to explain the science behind RLRL and its mechanism in myopia control.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to summarize key research findings and safety protocols for RLRL.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to discuss case reports on using RLRL.
• By the end of this session, delegates should be able to describe a case on hyperopic OrthoK and presbyopia correction
